Commuting madness and word counts

September 23, 2014

I’ve rejoined the workforce, or rather, I’ve joined the commuting workforce that requires I put on pajama pants and act like an adult for 8 hours of the day. I can’t say that I’m a fan of people who seem to be allergic to blinkers and lack the understanding of what an appropriate following distance looks like. Hint: The space in front of me big enough for a Fiat is not meant to accommodate your SUV. Granted, it’s a rather small buffer zone, but any bigger and three cars would try and squeeze in. Amazingly enough, I don’t have road rage, with the exception of a few well- earned curses is the most I bother with.

Since I reluctantly start my day  at 5:15 am, I’m exhausted by the time I get off from work. Nothing is more appealing to me when I get home than to taking a nap that two-year-olds routinely resist.

I took one of those glorious naps today. I just passed out on the floor because the bed was too far. I honestly don’t know what happened. I sat down and took off my shoes. I think I stretched out on the floor and 2 hour later…I woke up because I lost the feeling in my thumb. I still haven’t gotten all the feeling back. For the most part, just the tip [childish snicker] is tingling now.

I did manage to write a few handwritten pages (roughly 500 words) on book 4 while I was at work. I’m in an intense training program for my job (I’m on week 6 out of 12), so when I have a few minutes of down time, I squeeze in a few lines because I know that by the time I get home, writing won’t happen. My only saving grace with Soul of a Rocky is that I know the major plot points. I was writing blind for a little while before the characters sat down and gave me what I needed. Overall, I’m taking my time writing book 4. There are some scenes that will require special care. I’ve already cried writing two of them. I have two more to go, but frankly, I’m not emotionally ready for them yet. I’ll get to them by the end of the year. As far as timelines go, this one is tentatively–meaning in my head–set to release April 2015.

Since I’m still sleepy, I’m calling it a night. May you have the best dirty dreams and mornings that start off the right way. 😛
